TV Box Gaming Guides

Gaming

Android TV boxes are emerging to become an ideal platform for playing video games due to at least two contributing factors: (1) The TV box manufacturers have been rapidly improving their hardware specifications (processor, graphics and memory). (2) The Android operating system has grown to become a serious gaming platform with tons of console-quality game apps available.

Being able to run on TV boxes has in turn enabled Android games to leap from the small screens of smartphones and tablets to the big screens in the living rooms. This trend has therefore been propelling Android as a new disruptive force into the game console world. Thanks to the ever-increasing popularity of TV boxes, Android has positioned to become the only gaming platform that spans seamlessly across all screen sizes. And that makes it very appealing to game developers.

The biggest challenge to TV box gaming is to make gamepad controllers work with the games. Many Android game apps (especially newer ones) already support gamepad controllers natively. For others that are designed for touchscreen-only, sometimes there is a way to use a special key-mapping app to make them work by mapping gamepad controls to touch input.
